TAREI Advantage article from the Greater Houston Chapter Press Release dateline September 9th 2005 The Houston Chapter had its initial organizational meeting in January of 2005, the GHCT has come a long way since then, we now have a charter, bylaws and board of directors. The Chapter members and area inspectors have also benefited from several educational seminars. Houston has been lacking a direct TAREI presence for several years, for the benefit of area inspectors, agents and the home buying public. The inspectors felt that increasing the TAREI educational opportunities was very important. Also it was critical that the TAREI name and member inspectors must be promoted whenever possible. The first set of Chapter brochures advertising TAREI went to print in May 2005 and reprints (so as to include additional members) are scheduled three to four times per year. Members spread these to brokerages around the Houston metro area. As of this writing, the Chapter is contracting for website services with the site expected to be up and running in the fall of 2005. The Chapter would have participated in the Houston Association of Realtors "Realtor Expo" on October 6th 2005, another opportunity to get the TAREI name out to 5000 agents who attend, had hurricanes Katrina and Rita not come to visit. We plan to participate next year. The meetings are not just association business, each meeting has a speaker of inspector interest. In August 2005 the Director of the Texas Residential Construction Commission was be present. Dinner is provided at this time and ALL inspectors are welcome. Networking always happens and our affiliates provide an extra boost to the conversation. At GHCT we feel strongly about getting the TAREI name out as a ‘go to’ group for inspections and for educational opportunities for inspectors. THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER’S HOUSTON CHAPTER, ALL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
